This is a specialized instrument used for the removal of an intrauterine device (I.U.D). It is a narrow instrument with a slight angle in the shaft and two crochet style hooks on each side of the tip used to grasp the IUD strings.
The IUD hook is inserted into the cervical canal, and an effort is made to hook the strings and pull them into the vagina. The long, slender handle allows for easy access to the vaginal canal.
